It’s a general trend that people get making vlogs and podcasts instead of blog posts and long detailed writings. I am not in the position to judge, but there are several flaws with this approach:
A quote from Gabe Weatherhead of Macdrifter: > Podcasting provides an outline for ideas but it does not provide much introspection. Several writers that I once respected for their deep insight and critical thinking have become mediocre podcast talkers. It’s not because I think they were phonies. It’s because they traded the ease of recording for the difficulty of writing. Podcasting is fun. Ideas flow unedited and once they are out, they are gone. “Follow up” is not editing.
I am as faulty in the situation as everyone else. My attention span is decreasing, prefer small-sized-bits (be it video, article or even a series episode) and can’t concentrate for more than two-three minutes. I can’t be absorbed in anything long. Without this how can I articulate complex ideas? How Can I contribute to anything instead of just googling for an easy answer all the time?
The end solution will be to follow only people with these ideas in mind (Paul Graham, Jordan Peterson) while removing my smartphone and computer from my daily life.
