One of the main source of this blog, founder of CDBaby Derek Sivers from Sivers.org summarizes his experiences to creating ventures as not-so ordinary, MBA like way.
- Have a loads of small customers instead of big ones (famous project management tool creators said the same)
- You do not need funding, it takes away your attention from the business. Try to do venture that marketable from the beginning.
- Every decision has to serve the customer.
- One man’s sin should not have any consequences to the others.(Restricting intranets, etc)
- Make small actions that improves the mood of your customer (so called customer experience) and thus the hugging to your company.
- Hire and fire lightly. Real performance comes from doing real tasks on real projects, do not spend loads of money on recruiting processes.
- Do not promise anything, that does not belong under your total control (christmas shipping).
- Delegate. Call on every affected worker, say out the decision process and philosophy. Someone record it, the you can pass on the right to decide. From time-to-time check-in.
