Ben Horowitz is famous for being one of the main guy behind Netscape and the founder of one the best VC today, called Andreseen & Horowitz. This book is an attempt to show some routines or processes which enable the previous distruptors (think Google, Facebook) to create massive businesses.
- Every day have a staff meeting: Ask what is missing from the product?
- Culture beats everything, if someone come up with a failure, reward him.
- When recruiting during hard times consider only the strengths of a candidate, not the lack of weaknesses.
- People > Product > Profit
- As a CEO you main goal is to create the best workplace as possible
- Have a compulsory functional and management training for the newcomers.
- One-on-one is important, manager is there for asking only and listening. Its the meeting of the junior, he gives the agenda.
- Implement a shocking feature to the culture, which represents the value of the company well, like Amazon’s desks.
- If you have 2 competing teams, swap each other for a day (*Funday Friday”). Then they have better perspectives on each others job.
