On laying on grounds

Human by nature sleep on the floor, or on some semi-heavy surface from the beggining. In the last centuries, soft, carefully crafted matresses created even by former NASA engineers were distributed all over to the world. Today, in the era of herniated discs and demolished spine structures, is it a viable option to move back to the traditional flat floors? Or due to the evolution our skeleton, it can not handle the forces come from the counteraction of our own weight? Here and there I try to sleep on the floor, maybe it can leads to better hydration of the spine which results in an increased speed of recovery, however I’m not certain that this type of rare occasions really can aid the process. Maybe it makes things worse in the short term.
