Being an avid Study Hacks reader for years, I was more than welcome to hear that, Cal had been working on a new book, called Deep Work. That was the first book I’ve preordered ever even.
The thing is being able to concentrate for hours (days, weeks or even months) without any interruption, mismatching, or task switching. In the modern economy or (attention economy, somebody say), ads and clicking generate the major revenue of the biggest companies and they’re designing their platforms to be as addictive as possible.
In the book, there are historical overview, tool and methodical review, but what is most appealing to me is the tally idea. Visualising the journey can really lead to better adherence and improved performance in the long term. Yesterday I saw a post about a NYC teacher, Enrico Bertini doing it retroactively for years.
